Classic Case Sharing of Misuse of Air Compressor

1. Mixed use of lubricating oil leads to carbon deposition in the air compressor.
Under normal use, after the air compressor equipment runs for more than 2,000 hours, the lubricating oil will slowly form carbon deposits. If the quality of the selected air compressor lubricating oil is not up to standard, the possibility of carbon deposits will be higher. Once there are signs of formation, it will stick to the cavity wall, or at the position of air inlet and outlet and pipeline opening, which will block the filter element. In serious cases, it may even lead to an explosion accident of the air compressor, and the consequences are unimaginable.
How to effectively solve the problem of carbon deposition in air compressor? First of all, users should choose the original lubricating oil when purchasing air compressor oil, which has high matching, reduces the running-in time, and also ensures that the lubricating oil will have a small amount of carbon deposition output or no carbon deposition after oxidation. Secondly, adding an appropriate amount of additives to air compressor oil is also an effective method to prevent carbon deposition. In order to reduce carbon deposition, air compressor accessories, such as oil filter, oil separator and other common accessories, should be replaced in time, and the air compressor should be effectively maintained regularly, which will greatly reduce the generation of carbon deposition in the air compressor.

2.Maintenance is not timely, resulting in host failure.
Fault Phenomenon
An electrical fault occurred in the operation of an air compressor in a factory, and the air compressor stopped. When the air inlet was opened, it was found that a large number of light-colored glues adhered to the rotor of the air compressor and a large number of light-colored glues adhered to the shell of the air compressor. It was confirmed that the air compressor had carbon deposition, and the maintenance records showed that the air compressor had been running continuously for 8000 hours without maintenance. After cleaning and maintaining the air compressor and its system, it was decided to return the air compressor to the factory for maintenance. After disassembly inspection by the manufacturer, it was found that several bearing raceways and rollers of the air compressor had obvious wear grooves, the clearance between the main rotor and the auxiliary rotor of the air compressor was less than the design value, and both the main rotor and the auxiliary rotor had obvious wear marks. After replacing the bearings of the air compressor and polishing the worn main and auxiliary rotors, the air compressor was assembled, and it was put back into service in the power plant.
Cause Analysis
At present, the commonly used synthetic lubricating oil for air compressors has a service life of about 6,000 hours. Because the lubricating oil has been used for 8,000 hours, its viscosity, impurity particles and carbon deposition tendency have not met the use standards, and the bearing wear and carbon deposition of air compressors are caused by continuous use.
